The Hormone Edit

Our raging (or not so raging) hormones affect so many aspects of our lives, from mood to sleep, to bone, heart and muscle health, to cognitive function and gut health

If you have started to notice changes in your body, the way that you look and feel, it could well be the start of the perimenopause. It can begin earlier than you think, with late 30’s-early 40’s being a starting point for lots of women. This is a key time to evaluate how you exercise, what you eat and your overall lifestyle. Exercise, good nutrition and quality sleep are all non-negotiable for future health and happiness.

Menopause Symptoms

If any of these sounds familiar, it could be that you are perimenopausal or beyond: –

  • Brain fog – you know you went upstairs for something
  • Feelings of increased anxiety, low mood or PMT style mood swings?
  • What sex drive?
  • Found that you can no longer eat how you used to without gaining weight, especially around the middle?
  • Experiencing hot flushes or waking up in the night drenched in sweat?

Your menopause only officially starts once you have gone for 12 months without a period. The average age of starting the menopause is 51, although some women go through an earlier menopause due to genetics, medically induced or through a hysterectomy.

It’s time us ladies took control! We were all given an education for puberty, what was happening to your body and how to make babies, but where’s the education for what happens next? With this in mind, as a qualified peri-post menopause coach, I have created The Hormone Edit, to help enlighten you about the perimenopause and the menopause.

 Strength 4 Life

Lifting your own body weight should be something that we can all do, and with ease! We start to lose muscle mass after the age of 30 at a rate of 3-5% each decade. As we lose muscle mass our metabolism can slow down which can lead to unwanted weight gain, especially around our middle. Strength training helps to build muscle, which in turn will boost your metabolism and also helps to increase bone density (take that ?osteoporosis). Classes are suitable for all fitness levels and will have you using body weight and free weights, working on balance and agility with no high impact, so pelvic floor friendly. It is so important for us ladies to stay strong as we age and remain fit for life. Be proactive, don’t wait until this becomes a problem, get yourself strong now and make sure that you have strength 4 life!

£60 (6 x 45 minute classes – Mondays 9.15-10.05am – plus access to a library of over 500 online classes)
